We use telemetry to track monitored kiwi

Each group will give a short talk about their project and there will be opportunities to ask questions during the talks or speak to individual groups after the videos. Then we’ll show more Backyard Kiwi video stories on the BIG screen at the Butter factory – these are all pretty short and sweet – no longer than 15 minutes each.

Backyard Kiwi caps, kiwi prints and signed picture books will be on sale and there will be a few spot prizes announced throughout the evening. Enjoy excellent victuals and beverages on tap at the Butter Factory counter.

Darwins keeps noisy company

Darwin’s nest is in a busy quarry

Kiwi Monitoring

This video introduces us to Darwin a monitored kiwi who lives in a busy noisy quarry at Parua Bay. Darwin is filmed having his annual health check and Backyard Kiwi’s Todd Hamilton gives us the low down on Darwin’s physiology, general health and well being. Enjoy the rare footage and unique story of Darwin and his mate Mrs D who have successfully hatched 2-3 chicks each year since Darwin settled in the quarry.

You can follow Darwin’s full history  in Local Kiwi Profiles along with all our other local monitored kiwi.

You can watch more videos on the Backyard Kiwi YouTube Channel
